Best Place to See the New York City Skyline

I'm lucky and grateful to live close to New York city.  From the New Jersey side, we get the best of both worlds: proximity to the city and gorgeous city views.  If you are visiting or looking for some good views, check out some of these New Jersey neighborhoods which overlook New York city.  All are accessible by public transportation.

 

Hoboken, NJ

  • Accessible via PATH and get off at the Hoboken Station
  • Walk towards the water along the water front.  Pier A Park provides areas to sit and enjoy the Manhattan mid-town view
  • Grab some food on Sinatra Drive or Washington Street
  • Travel Time: 20 minute train ride underwater (varies on weekends)
  • Cost: $2.75 one-way
 
 

Jersey City, NJ

  • Accessible via PATH and get off at the Newport station
  • Walk towards the water along the water front
  • You'll be able to see great views of downtown Manhattan
  • Travel Time: 20 minute train ride underwater (varies on weekends)
  • Cost: $2.75 one-way
 
 

Weehawken, NJ

  • Accessible via Port Authority Bus, take either routes: 158, 156R, 159R which travels on River Road along the Hudson River coast.  Get off at the first stop at Lincoln Harbor.  Take a stroll around Weehawken Park.  
  • Accessible via Port Authority Bus, take either routes:  128, 165,166 which travels on Boulevard East along the cliff and overlooks River Road.  Provides panoramic views of New York city including downtown.  Get off at Blvd East and Eldorado Place and you can walk along the path.  
  • Travel Time: 20 minute bus ride through the Lincoln Tunnel (varies on weekends)
  • Cost: $3.50 one-way
